Our Vision

Our Story
Beginnings SC was founded in 2012 to support families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing in South Carolina.
At the time, many families struggled to find clear, unbiased information during an overwhelming and uncertain time. We set out to change that.
What started with two professionals who saw this need has grown into a statewide organization. Today, we help families feel confident, informed, and supported so their children can thrive.
In the early years, we worked to bring a proven model of family-centered support—already established in North Carolina—to families here in South Carolina. We listened to families, connected with communities, and built something better: one place for trusted information and guidance.
Beginnings SC officially opened its doors in January 2012.
Since then, we’ve continued to grow. More than 450 families have been referred to our program. Our team now includes four professionals with experience in early childhood, education, family support, and hearing health.
Together, we:
- Support families as they navigate hearing loss
- Train professionals across the state
- Strengthen childcare programs
- Advocate for early identification and access to services
Today, we remain committed to our original vision:
Every family should have the knowledge, confidence, and support they need to help their child succeed.
We’re glad you’re here. We hope you’ll stay connected as Beginnings SC continues to grow and serve families across South Carolina.
